100 new jobs for Roscommon

Harmac Medical Products are due to create 100 new positions in county Roscommon. The US firm have also revealed that recruitment is underway with twenty positions already filled.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton commented on the expansion of the manufacturing facility in Castlerea. He stated that, “Today’s announcement is great news for Castlerea and great news for Ireland. It represents a firm vote of confidence in our skilled workforce and our competitiveness by a leading US medical devices company, and will make a huge difference to 100 families in Co. Roscommon.”

The company, who first established their Irish operation in 1998, have become a significant employer in the Castlerea area and an important addition to the medical technologies sector in Ireland.

Harmac are making a significant investment in the 10,000 sq ft expansion of its facility, while the new jobs will bring total employment to 282 on completion.The expansion is the result of the Irish operation winning new and extended contracts to produce a range of products for its clients.

Speaking at today’s announcement John Somers, CEO at Harmac said, “Harmac’s investment in Castlerea and in the West of Ireland over the past 13 years has been a great success. We are proud to announce this major expansion to support our current customers and provide capacity for significant new opportunities.”
