Power Protection Solutions Limited, a supplier of uninterruptable power supplies (UPS) to the wholesale and retail food markets in Ireland, has taken on the Zigor range of UPS.
Distributed by ASBIS, the Zigor range was first introduced two years ago. Catering the specific needs of retail point of sale (POS) devices, such as tills, scanning equipment and computers, the company also provides solutions for large commercial organisations, data centres, industrial facilities, public and education sectors.
Retailers require a UPS that is flexible and meets the challenges of various outlets, from superstore to local convenience shop. The tills in a supermarket record every transaction on a file server or back to a data centre or server room. If the power failed at shop level for even a few seconds any unsaved transaction data would be lost. The servers could also encounter file corruption, with a knock on effect for other data, potentially affecting sales records, accounting systems and stock profiles.
"We’re very choosy about the UPS we sell," said Philip Brown, technical director, Power Protection Solutions Limited, "because we want to provide end users with the best possible technical solution to their technical problem. We had been looking for a new UPS to meet our customers’ requirements and heard about Zigor on the Internet.
"We immediately got in contact with ASBIS to find out more and, after talking to them, we knew Zigor’s products would be the right solution for the retail stores we had to supply so we immediately placed several orders."
"Our customers are some of the largest users of POS in Ireland and they do not need their stores affected by power problems. Zigor has served all of our current and projected needs and given customers the peace of mind that their power is protected and in safe hands," added Brown.
