Online payment solution company Stripe has launched its service in Ireland. The company, set up by Auctomatic founders Patrick and John Collison, aims to make it easier for companies to set up online stores and manage transactions.
Based in San Francisco, Stripe has received $40 million in investment from a range of backers, including Sequoia capital and PayPal founders Peter Thiel and Elon Musk. The company is valued at $500 million.
Stripe only charges users on a per-transaction basis of 2.4% and 24c +VAT. It supports all major credit card types and can handle currency conversions for overseas transactions.
"With Stripe’s launch in Ireland, we’re bringing all our core functionality to every Irish individual and business: instant setup, full control over the user experience, straightforward pricing, and a fully integrated stack," said a statement on the company’s blog.
