Microsoft has donated €1.2 million in software donations to non-profit organisations to support their efforts to transition to the cloud. The announcement was made as part of National Cloud Week. The week, organised by Microsoft, has been running since Monday with each day focusing on different sectors where Cloud Computing can drive economic growth, support job creation and to deliver savings and efficiencies in both the public and private sector in Ireland.
Other beneficiaries were Enable Ireland, Junior Achievement and St. Vincent de Paul.
Accepting the donation, Hilary Devlin, director of finance & IT, Enable Ireland, said: "Through this software donation we will be in a position to deploy cutting edge cloud services throughout our organisation. We are also anticipating that the increase in our efficiency will vastly improve the way we operate and will help us to take action on disability in communities all over Ireland."
Microsoft also announced details of a conference focused on the potential of Cloud Computing for non-profit sector entitled Partnering for Success. The conference will take place in The Morrison Hotel, Dublin on 15 of May from 9am to 2pm.
Microsoft today called on the non-profit sector to register for the conference by logging onto www.thewheel.ie.
