MasterCard has launched Start Path, a start-up accelerator promising support, mentorship and help in securing customers.

Start Path will help eight start-ups to secure a flagship customer; overcome operational challenges; refine their product; and raise Series A funding.

The programme is divided into two parts: a four-month period of defining pilot projects and exploring business development opportunities followed by an eight-month execution period where the pilot projects are brought to market.

Stephane Wyper, Start Path global lead at MasterCard, said: “The future of commerce will be shaped both by traditional players and by start-ups that are already experimenting with the next generation of solutions. We are giving these start-ups direct access to our extensive knowledge and experience, to help them uncover new ideas, and ultimately create better experiences for consumers, merchants and other partners.”

Startups can apply for the opportunity to participate in this accelerator programme until 16 May at www.startpath.com/accelerator.
