Enterasys Security Router 1850 (XSR-1850) is designed for enterprise branch offices and combines a full range of IP router features, a number of WAN interfaces and enterprise-class Virtual Private Networking (VPN).

It offers increased performance, redundancy, and additional expansion options and memory over the previous Security Router 1800 series.

Enterasys Security Routers are being marketed as an alternative to Cisco’s 1700 and 2600 series routers. The Enterasys systems provide IP routing and security functions as well as VPN acceleration.

Enterasys has also released Virtual Private Network (VPN) firmware for its Security Router 1800 series. The standards-based VPN feature set is suitable for a range of connectivity requirements for site-to-site, extranet, or remote access. Leveraging the VPN accelerator built into every device, Enterasys Security Routers deliver industry-leading performance and maximise secure connectivity between remote sites and teleworkers. Existing Security Router customers can add VPN locally or remotely through a firmware upgrade.
