BMC Software has extended the capabilities of its SmartDBA suite of Web-based management tools that detect, diagnose, and correct database performance issues.
Built-in online reorganisation capabilities have been added to the space management component of the SmartDBA performance management suite, Space Expert 4.3. This allows administrators to reorganise databases online while providing complete read and write access to database applications with no downtime—the applications remain up and running. The online reorg capability is supplied at no additional cost.
Space Expert’s data handling features allow it to differentiate between chained and migrated rows and recommend the appropriate action to resolve each condition.
martDBA has also been integrated with BMC’s Patrol systems management product. This allows DBAs and systems administrators to share common event information and co-ordinate data management effectively across the enterprise.
DBAs can view all database events from the SmartDBA Cockpit and co-ordinate management tasks with Patrol administrators.
