Variants of Apple’s MacBook Air got cheaper in Australia overnight as Apple reduced pricing and at the same time boosted the spec.

The lowest price point remains €929 for the 11″ MacBook Air with a 128Gb solid state drive (SSD), but it now comes with a faster 1.4GHz Intel Core i5-4260U CPU compared to the previous version which had a 1.3GHz Core i5-4250U CPU. You still get 4Gb of RAM.

The pricing has changed on all the other models has dropped by €100. The 11″ MacBook Air with a 256Gb SSD now costs €1,129, and it, too, gets the faster processor.

The larger 13″ model has the same updated CPU and is available for €1,029 for the model with the 128Gb SSD, and the model with the 256Gb SSD is now $1,229.

Battery life is said to have received a boost due to the new processor, with Apple now claiming up to nine hours of iTunes movie playback for the 11″ MacBook Air (up from eight hours), while the 13″ MacBook Air now gets 12 hours of iTunes movie playback (up from 10 hours). The other quoted battery life values remain the same (nine hours and 12 hours of ‘wireless Web’ for the 11″ and 13″, respectively).
