YouTube announced the launch of the European Creator Consultation, a pan-European survey designed to gather insights from creators across all 27 European Union member states.

The initiative aims to identify key opportunities and barriers to success for creators, providing policymakers with a data-driven roadmap to unlock the full economic and cultural potential of Europe’s creator economy.

“Creators are at the forefront of Europe’s cultural and economic landscape,” Pedro Pina, vice-president for YouTube in Europe, Middle East and Africa, said.

He added: “with the YouTube European Creator Consultation, we are building a vital bridge between the creative community and policymakers to ensure the future of the creator economy is built on data-driven insights and direct experience. This is about giving creators a single, unified voice in guiding policies that will shape the future of Europe’s creator economy.”

The European creator economy is a powerhouse of innovation and growth, shaping modern culture and contributing significantly to the economic landscape.

In 2024, YouTube’s creative ecosystem alone contributed over €7 billion to the European Union’s GDP.

To ensure this vital sector continues to thrive, it is essential to understand the needs of the creators who power it.

This consultation will provide a direct channel for creators to share their experiences on what it takes to build a business, develop skills, and overcome challenges.

This pan-European initiative follows a highly successful first-of-its-kind consultation in the UK, where feedback from nearly 10,000 creators became a powerful catalyst for meaningful policy action and government recognition.

The findings from the consultation will be synthesised into a comprehensive report. This report will be shared with policymakers in Brussels and across the continent, offering a clear perspective on the reality creators face today and identifying sensible solutions to boost the EU’s creator economy, strengthen its creative output, and continue exporting European culture to the world.
