1. Research your field
The more informed you are the better. It will not only make you appear knowledgeable but will also give you more confidence. Use the Internet to research current trends in the area of work you’re interested in and find out who the main players are in your field.

2. Make your CV shine
Your resume is the first thing that prospective employers see so make sure it looks good. Rewrite your CV so that it appeals to the particular employer you’re considering, keep it concise and check for typos before sending. 

Look at keywords in the job ads and match them to your experience. 

Make sure that these words appear in your CV because employers may use software that searches for specific words; if your resume lacks these keywords, it will sink to the bottom of the prospective candidate pile. 

Lastly, if you plan to send your CV via e-mail, cut and paste it from your word processing document into the body of the e-mail rather than sending it as an e-mail attachment.
