Canadian cybersecurity firm eSentire has announced plans to create close to 100 jobs over the next five years in a new European HQ and security operations centre in Cork.

The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation through IDA Ireland.

ESentire combines people, process and technology to provide its active threat protection service to mid-sized enterprises with advanced cybersecurity capabilities. The company’s security operations Center analysts continuously detect and mitigate threats that traditional security technology can miss.

The company has grown rapidly, more than tripling its size in the last three years and has cited finding talent in the areas of security forensics analysts, software development and sales professionals as its primary challenge.

Mark McArdle, CTO, eSentire, said: “We evaluated several locations within Europe to expand our business and establish an EU base to better serve our clients on both sides of the ocean. We were extremely impressed with the technical talent in Cork and the ecosystem the government has helped to develop to fill the skills gap, specifically in the demanding and competitive field of cybersecurity.”
