Jamaica punch: Pina colada isn’t the only flavour of the month
Digicel has launched its 4G broadband service in Jamaica, touting it as the Caribbean island’s fastest wireless broadband service.
With internet penetration in Jamaica at only 17%, or just 110,000 lines, Digicel 4G Broadband hopes to open up “the endless possibilities of the internet to people right across Jamaica.”
The service is available across all 14 parishes, covering 60% of the population and 200 communities, with further rollout planned.
That translates to 410,000 households in Jamaica that can now take advantage of broadband.
Digicel has leveraged its existing network and investment in Jamaica of over €675 million with a further investment of €18 million in rolling out the new broadband service.
To drive internet penetration, Digicel is teaming up with some of Jamaica’s credit unions and best known companies, including Courts and NCB to offer financing plans for computers, laptops, net books and modems.
