NDRC, 1776 Partners bring Challenge Cup 2016 to Dublin

Global start-up incubator and seed fund 1776 and NDRC have announced that Dublin will become one of 50 cities worldwide to participate in the third annual Challenge Cup on 26 January 2016.

NOw in its third year, the competition looks for the most promising start-ups with the best ideas to solve the world’s biggest challenges. Challenge Cup participants compete for $1 million in prizes as well as the chance to connect with international investors, customers and the media.

“With each new innovation, Ireland’s entrepreneurs are driving transformative change at home and across the globe,” said Ben Hurley, CEO, NDRC (pictured). “We are excited to partner with 1776 and the Challenge Cup to provide these founders with a platform for accessing global resources that will help them grow their companies and achieve their full potential.”

Collectively, the cities will contribute 135 start-ups to participate in nine regional competitions: Eastern North America, Eastern Mediterranean/Europe, Africa, Western North America, Western Europe, Eastern Asia, Latin America, Middle East/North Africa, and India/SE Asia/Oceania – where the field will be reduced 45.

The regional winners will join 45 wildcard entries to compete for $1 million in cash prizes and funding at the global finals in Washington DC in June.

The deadline for applications is 7 Janurary 2016.
