After months of rumours which started out as the ‘Google X phone’ we finally know that the Moto X from Motorola will be revealed on 1 August, a week before the LG G2 launch.

Like many smartphone launch events of recent, the Motorola has decided to unveil its new smartphone in New York. The invite features three women and a couple of unnamed devices, one in black and one in white.

Back in May, Dennis Woodside, CEO of Motorola, confirmed the Moto X and said the phone would be part of a portfolio which would reinvent the Google-owned company. He didn’t give a glimpse of the device which was in his pocket, but said that various sensors will make it ‘contextually aware’, and anticipate what you need.

Leaked specifications for the Moto X include a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 2Gb of RAM and 16Gb of internal storage. It’s also believed to sport a 720p screen of either 4.3" or 4.7", a 10MP rear camera, NFC, 4G LTE and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Although this covers the main specifications, it has always been said that the Moto X would be customisable by the users. Whether this means choosing the spec from the off or something simpler like interchangeable covers remains to be seen.
