The Irish Society for Information Technology in Agriculture (ISITA) is running a workshop entitled: ‘Identification of the obstacles to IT uptake on farms and the strategic way forward’ in the Keadeen Hotel, Newbridge, Co Kildare on Thursday October 23rd.
ISITA has decided to change its usual format of an open annual conference to a workshop setting with an invited audience. A wide range of participants are being invited, including representatives from relevant farming and farm business sectors and agencies, software providers, educators and trainers, opportunities programme advisors, farming groups and the Department of Agriculture.
The guest speaker at the event will be Andy Offer, head of New Business and Innovation at ADAS, a UK research-based consultancy to rural and land-based industries. Offer is responsible for the evaluation of business opportunities and the overall development of the ADAS business. He has particular responsibility for the development of e-commerce and has recently taken control of a separate ADAS business group providing specialised modelling, GIS and Internet application development services to ADAS clients. He is a former chairman of the Rural Education and Development Association and is the current president of the European Federation for IT in Agriculture (EFITA).
