Sky will officially begin signing up users to its high-definition television service this month.
The satellite broadcasting company said that it does not yet have any figures for the expected number of users at launch, which is slated for May.
Users will have to pay €449 for the Sky HD box and a Sky HD subscription of €15 per month in addition to their Sky Digital subscription. As an introductory offer, the standard installation of Sky HD will be free for all new and existing Sky Digital subscribers taking a Sky HD subscription.
The Sky HD box includes 160GB of storage space, which will record around 30 hours of HD programmes or 80 hours of standard-quality.
