    Shedding Light on Nanomedicine and Cancer

    The incredible and innovative world of nanomedicine and its exciting potential in improving the diagnoses and treatment of cancer will be explored by leading experts in the field at a public event, organised by Trinity College Dublin, this Friday 31 January 2014, marking Nano World Cancer Day.

    The field of nanomedicine uses materials which are much smaller than the thickness of a hair, sometimes just a few atoms in thickness. Because of the special characteristics of nanomaterials they have opened up an exciting array of possibilities for developing unique, personalised and targeted methods for diagnosing and treating cancers that complement and enhance existing methods and provide opportunities for entirely new ways of dealing with cancer.

    • Towards personalised cancer medicine: Trinity’s Strategic Theme Champion for Cancer, Prof John O’Leary, Professor of Pathology, School of Medicine, Trinity, Consultant Histopathologist at St James’s, Dublin and Director of Pathology at the Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital.
