    NDRC Founder Weekend

    Online

Applications are open for the upcoming NDRC Founder Weekend, which returns to RDI Hub in Kerry 17 to 19 February after 2022’s session saw 60 individuals and startups participate. NDRC is Ireland’s national startup accelerator programme for globally ambitious entrepreneurs.

A fully remote event, this year’s Founder Weekend will focus on low code / no code product build, to help those with no technical experience or knowledge to understand how they can design a simple MVP themselves with free tools available online. Other workshops include Storytelling, Pitching, and the Mentor 1:1’s.

Several founders who started their journey at a Founder Weekend will be returning as mentors and speakers to share their insights and tips. Leo Rodriguez from Helgen Tech, James Flynn of ConnectMor, Richelle Flanagan of MyMovesMatter and Hrvoje Smolic of Graphite Note will share their successes and challenges as founders and how NDRC supports continue to help them.

“Founder Weekend is exceptional in that it provides people from various stages along the startup journey an opportunity to join, learn and share with like-minded individuals,” said Maeve Lyons, who has been running NDRC programmes from the hub for the past year. “Ultimately, this weekend is about founders supporting founders. We bring them together over the weekend sprint, in order for them to collaborate and grow their idea or startup.”

The deadline for application for the NDRC Founder Weekend is 12 February. To apply, visit: https://www.ndrc.ie/founder-weekend

TechFire – Can your company afford the true cost of sustainability?

    10:00-11:00 AM

    Online – Webinar

There is no escaping the effects of the climate crisis but differences of opinion exist on how to tackle it – particularly at the commercial level, where the bottom line often takes precedence over a moral imperative.

According to a survey conducted by TechCentral for Pure Storage 55% of IT professionals polled said sustainability ranked highly on their personal agenda, yet only 33% said they would purchase a product that cost more initially but would positively impact a company’s sustainability goals.

If it comes down to a choice between the heart and the wallet, it looks like the wallet is winning out. But can your business afford the true cost of sustainability?

Joining Niall Kitson at TechFire on 28 February to tease out this burning question will be Michael Kennedy, Manager Cloud, Networks & Security Infrastructure with RTÉ, Mike Roan, EMEA senior director of systems engineering and Aaron Kinsella, country sales manager for Ireland at Pure Storage.

TechFire: Do you have an open relationship with your cloud partner?

    Online

IT pros have to deliver efficient and innovative solutions and cloud vendors are working hard to meet their demands through better pricing, more features and comprehensive ecosystems.

The downside to this is that today’s most flexible partner might be tomorrow’s most restrictive. There are times when cloud lock-in could represent an advantage. Where time to market and value proposition of the cloud aligns with your organisational goals, the benefits may outweigh any concerns.

The alternative is to build the solution with an appropriate layer of separation giving you the flexibility to move but at the cost of increased complexity. Therein lies the conundrum, to find a way to align with one vendor, while keeping your options open to moving on at a later date.

In other words: Do you have an open relationship with your cloud partner?

TechFire: asking the burning question ‘Is organisational resilience an IT problem?

    Online

The TechFire webinar series returns, asking the burning question ‘Is organisational resilience an IT problem?

Operational resilience is more than security, it’s a mesh of factors extending beyond security to include the pace of technological change, workforce dynamics and geopolitical events. Keeping any organisation safe and secure means handling an array of threats from cyber crime to climate change. With so many threats to business continuity it can be hard to figure out where the proverbial buck stops. If a department has the capability to solve a localised problem it may be deploying resources away from issues faced by the wider business.

Join David Tyrrell, vice president, EMEA, NTT Data, Jonathan Law, digital operational resilience programme director at AIB and Michael O’Reilly, CTO, EMEA, NTT Data for an online, in-depth conversation on the challenges of resilience, at a time when organisations are coming under more scrutiny than ever. The discussion will also present the results of a survey of IT professionals carried out by TechCentral.ie
