Engineers Week 2011 has been confirmed for next week, 14 to 20 February..
Run by Engineers Ireland, the week-long series of activities across the country is run by Engineers Ireland and is a campaign held annually to promote engineering as a career and the importance of the profession to Ireland.
“We are encouraging everyone to explore what is going on in their locality over Engineers Week 2011,” said John Power, director general of Engineers Ireland, “and see how engineers are changing the world we live in by developing new technologies, new energy sources and breakthrough medical devices. School children, teachers, families, parents and grandparents are all welcome. Engineers Week will show that engineering is ingenuity; it is creativity – it’s about pushing the boundaries of possibility.”
Nearly 150 events will take place nationwide over the course of the week. Volunteer Day, February 17, Engineers Ireland’s will see volunteer engineers all over Ireland, including Irish and Leinster rugby legend Malcolm O’Kelly, entering primary schools to inspire students about maths.
