An Irish comic book artist has come up with a new app for learning Japanese. The brainchild of Dublin-born artist Bob Byrne, Dr Moku teaches the Japanese writing system Hiragana using visual prompts and voiceover.
Consisting of 46 basic symbols, Hiragana is used to write native Japanese words or to spell words that don’t already have dedicated symbols in Kanji (a system of symbols derived from Chinese).
The app is also regularly updated with other bonus content. Dr Moku is available in free and premium versions for iOS devices from the iTunes App Store.
