Attention all hardcore PC gamers: Dell has introduced its new XPS 600 desktop gaming PC. This is its first PC to feature the Nvidia Nforce4 SLI X16 technology and dual GeForce 7800 GTX graphic processing units.
It is also the first time that Dell has used a non-Intel chipset. The new Nvidia Nforce4 SLI X16 MCP provides up to a total of 40 PCI Express lanes, with two full bandwidth x16 slots.
Although some of today’s more PCI Express-heavy games, such as Far Cry and Chronicle of Riddick do show some nominal performance increases by moving to a dedicated dual X16 slot, the benefit of having a dual x16 solution however, is more so for future game releases, where higher resolutions and larger textures will be the norm, and where the full benefits of dual x16 PCI Express will be really be exploited.
