Winternals Defrag Manager 2.5 is enterprise defragmentation software designed to eliminate file system bottlenecks throughout an organisation’s IT infrastructure. It offers a new defrag engine called SmartPhase for increased speed and thoroughness.
The product remotely schedules, deploys, monitors and controls defragmentation throughout any sized Windows’ network from a single console without any manual installation on client systems.
Winternals claims that, according to test runs on Windows operating systems, the new defrag engine provides speed improvements of up to 100 per cent over competing products. It also is said to accomplish more thorough free space consolidation, ensuring less workload on subsequent defrag runs.
The company has also extended its technology license agreement with Microsoft to include key Windows kernel components for distribution with version 3.0 of Defrag Manager, planned for release in early 2004.
