Patrick St, the Grand Parade, Paul Street and the Boardwalk in Cork City Centre have become the first areas outside of Dublin to introduce the innovative Bitbuzz Freedom Wi-Fi service, which provides a fully managed complimentary Wi-Fi service to the public.

Once registered with Bitbuzz, users will all be able to benefit from the service, which has been set up with the aim of providing a boost to local businesses.

Bitbuzz Freedom is now complimentary in multiple 20-minute Wi-Fi sessions, meaning that with Bitbuzz Freedom, members of the public can safely browse the Web and check e-mail from their smartphones for free on Patrick St, the Grand Parade and the Boardwalk.

Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr John Buttimer said: "This initiative demonstrates Cork’s desire to stay ahead of the game in the provision of technological services which are in ever greater demand throughout the world."
