Apple begins shipping fifth generation iPod touch

Apple has begun shipping the fifth generation iPod touch to customers who pre-ordered the new device. The media player features the same 4" screen and A5 processor as the iPhone 5 and comes in 32Gb and 64Gb models priced at €329 and €429 respectively.

On Tuesday, customers began to report that they have received shipping confirmation e-mails from Apple, informing them that their pre-ordered iPod touch is on its way.

Delivery estimates suggest that the iPods will arrive on 15 October, according to GigaOm, but Apple’s website still states "October" as the shipping date for the device.

The shipping e-mails follow today’s earlier release of the official fifth-generation iPod touch user guide from Apple.
