Tumblita
For: iOS

It might seem like Tumblr is just for hipsters and early adopters, but more people use it than Google+. Part of that may be down to it being around for longer or just that microblogging is more fun. Another potential reason is that apps like Tumblita are attractive enough to make it more enjoyable than it should be.

Hailed as the best Tumblr client for iOS, the current edition has Instapaper and Facebook support, handles all kinds of multimedia content, the ability to edit and delete posts than are already live, and you can post from multiple blogs. Some of this may seem fairly standard, but given its slick package you won’t have too many qualms parting with €2.39 for it.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1 HD
For: iOS

Time was you have to pay upwards of £30 for a Sonic game, now you can download new versions of the Sega classic for less than €2. Sonic’s fast-moving, coin-chasing formula has largely held true since 1991, and the character has appeared on all the major consoles. Now we get a decent incarnation for iOS’s Game Centre. This version harkens back to the heydays of the early Sega consoles, before the series stalled when the characters were redesigned in 3D.

Next Train Ireland
For: Android

Covering DART, Dublin commuter, regional commuter and Intercity services, this app lets the user check departure times from all stations or just the one closest to you at a glance. Well worth the €1.99 asking price, but be sure to change the default settnig if you want information on trains running more than an hour ahead.

As a side note, developer Stephen McBride also has an excellent free app for Dublin Bus services.
