Pro

1 April 2005

IBM’s 15in ThinkPad T42 and T42p are available with Intel Pentium M Processor 735, 745, and 755 technology with 2Mbyte of L2 cache, as well as the Intel Pentium M 1.5GHz processor with 1Mbyte of L2 cache.

Select models of the ThinkPad T42p, also come with ATI Mobility FireGL T2 Graphics with OpenGL support, ‘flexview’ technology, UXGA (1600 x 1200) resolution, 802.11 a/b/g and IBM’s ThinkVantage technologies for improved security and ease-of-use.

Also included with both notebooks is the ‘Active Protection System’. Similar to the technology used in automobiles to deploy airbags, the system uses a microchip on the system board to detect system acceleration (such as in a fall) and responds by temporarily parking the drive’s read/write head. This rapid response can help prevent hard drive crashes that occur in some falls, helping to prevent total data loss and ultimately reduce downtime.

Select models of the T42 and T42p will also include the new ThinkPad Multi-Burner Ultrabay SlimDVD recordable drive.

Prices for the ThinkPad T42 start at €1,990.
