Irish online backup provider KeepITsafe says its revenue has grown 300% in the last 12 months and that the volume of data backed up in that time has increased by a factor of five, with the firm backing up 4 billion files and restoring more than 40 million lost files.
Managing director Eoin Blacklock attributes the firm’s success to “market conditions” and the “growing weariness of tape backup” causing many businesses to wonder how secure their data really is. Blacklock added: “Online backup has many scalable advantages, especially with technology maturation and the development of secure data centres.”
He describes data backup as a core necessity for any firm. “Data is one of the most critical assets in any business, and (its) loss is irreplaceable. “Too many Irish companies have fallen victim to data corruption, loss of critical information or general backup nightmares,” he said. “All backup corruptions or failures can be avoided by using online backup services.”
Blacklock said online backup technology had come a long way in the past five years, and that security and data protection now allow providers to backup 24/7 with the ability to recover files instantaneously. He said the growth of data centres such as Digiweb’s had given online backup providers access to state of the art facilities with round the clock security.
He pointed out that the cost of investing in a solid backup plan was far less than the frequently impossible task of trying to restore data.
KeepITSafe was founded in 2003 and is based in Blanchardstown, Dublin. It has served over 600 clients and 80 partners to date.
