Microsoft acknowledged on Tuesday that some users had problems signing in to Xbox Live services on their Xbox 360, Windows 8 PC, and Windows Phone, blocking them from video services and games in some cases.

Microsoft reported that Xbox accounts, the Marketplace, and multiplayer matchmaking were unaffected. However, the company acknowledged problems with the Xbox services themselves.

"For our members that are currently unable to sign in to their Xbox Live accounts, we’re right here with you!" Microsoft said on its status blog. "We’ve got our team engaged and they are working hard to get everything back to normal as expediently as possible. You’re being so patient while we’re working, and we really appreciate you! We’ll update you on our progress as soon as we have more information."

Microsoft said that the outage affected the Xbox, Xbox.com, as well as Games for Windows Live, Windows 8, and Windows Phone. At time of writing all services were back online.

Microsoft’s message for those trying to access games, video services, or other Xbox services was equally cheery, perhaps annoyingly so. Xbox Music, however, was operating normally.

"Oh no! We know that some of our members are having a difficult time accessing video, application, music, and game content on the Xbox console," Microsoft said. "We want you back to enjoying the full scope of the Xbox Live service as soon as possible. We’ve got our best people working to get everything back to normal. Thank you so much for your patience! We’ll post an update here on our progress as soon as we have more information!"

Microsoft recently announced its Xbox One game console, tying its services more closely to the console than in prior generations. Let’s hope it solves those problems before the launch.
