Cat B15

Built by Bullitt Mobile for Catapillar, the B15 is a younger brother to the similarly ruggedised (but less useful) B25 not-so-smart phone.

Measuring 125×69.5×14.95mm, weighs 170g, has a 4" multitouch screen with Gorilla glass and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on a 1GHz dual-core processor.

As for the ruggedised features, the B15 can be immersed in up to 1 metre of water for 30 minutes, is dust proof, can handle temperatures from -20°C to 55°C and can be dropped from a height of 1.8 metres without damage.

Jolla

You might remember Nokia’s ill-fated MeeGo mobile operating system. Abandoned and thrown open to whoever would have it in the open source community, Finnish mobile phone company Jolla has taken it as the basis for their Sailfish OS powering its similarly named smartphone.

The Jolla itself is a 4G handset with a 4.5" display, 8MP camera and 16Gb of internal memory expandable via microSD.

And the good news? It’s compatible with Android apps.

Available for pre-order now with shipping promised "by the end of 2013".

Ultimate Ears Boom

Ultimate Ears claims its UE BOOM is "designed to make the most of digital music’s convenience, while making it less of a solitary experience". Or you could just call it a wireless speaker.

Ultimate Ears claims the Boom is the first stereo speaker to offer 360-degree sound in a battery-powered device, and features a 15-hour rechargeable battery.

Two units can be strung together through the free UE BOOM app (available for iOS and Android) to play them in either stereo-to-stereo mode or traditional left/right stereo mode.

Price: €199
