Terminalfour (T4) has completed a new website for Heritage Ireland. The website, using Terminalfour Site Manager, provides detailed information about Irish heritage sites ranging from the Croppy Acre in Dublin to Skellig Michael in Kerry. Locations, opening hours and special events are listed for almost 100 sites of historical importance across Ireland.

The new website is targeted at Irish viewers and at foreign visitors, with text in eight languages, including French, German and Polish. T4’s Site Manager allows the number of languages to be expanded.

A mapping facility helps users find heritage sites by geographic region and to locate places of interest near particular towns or areas they plan to visit. Also included is a photo gallery of listed historical sites, drawn from Government archives and elsewhere. A calendar shows where special events will be held, and searches can be filtered by region, county or specific venue.

T4 CEO Piero Tintori said the Heritage Ireland website will be a useful addition for visitors to Ireland. “The website gives contributors an extremely easy-to-use interface for keeping content constantly up to date. Terminalfour Site Manager is now in use across a wide range of public body websites in Ireland and abroad.”

Minister for State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works, Dr Martin Mansergh TD, noted that the Heritage Ireland website has received more than 350,000 visitors in the last six months, and that 66% were from abroad. “This shows that Ireland continues to grow as a venue for cultural tourism,” said Mansergh.
