ServeCentric, the Irish-owned data centre and collocation provider, is to host and support the entire online gaming platform for PopCap’s international markets.
Seattle-based PopCap Games is one of the world’s largest publishers of so-called casual games – so named for their ease of use and the fact that they’re intended to be completed during an office worker’s coffee break.
The online games, which are generally inexpensive or free, run on PCs, Macs, mobile phones, games consoles, and other devices. PopCap’s website lines up more than two-dozen such games for playing free via a web browser or for downloading as paid-for deluxe versions.
PopCap’s Dublin office acts as a development and support centre for its international operations and European business. Its choice of Dublin-based ServeCentric marks the games company’s first such hosting facility outside the US.
