More than four in five (83%) of PC users know how important it is to back-up their data regularly, says Acronis.
Research by the online back-up service revealed, almost a third (29%) of PC owners do not back-up their files while a quarter admit they only back-up when they remember. Just 15% say they back-up their data on a regular basis.
Furthermore, nearly two thirds (62%) admit to worrying about their PC crashing or being stolen, which is double the number concerned about getting a virus on their machine.
“It is encouraging to see that more and more people are becoming aware about back-up and recovery,” said David Blackman from Acronis.
“However, consumer back-up practices are still sloppy and many of us are putting months’ worth of data at risk. While awareness of back-up is creeping up behind antivirus we’re still not at the stage that security products are at.”
