Nokia has announced it will begin to facilitate transfer of gamers purchased under its N-Gage brand following outcry form the gaming community. The Finnish company initially planned to release its range of 30 games for handsets with stringent rights management to prevent piracy but this led to a situation where users who had already paid for games were unable to bring the content with them on upgrading their phones.
According a company blog, Nokia Conversations, a temporary fix is in the works at the customer service level with a more long-term solution in the pipeline. A timeframe for the fix has yet to be established yet, with the copmany stating “the games guys are aware how big an issue this is and doing their best to solve it.”
Nokia’s initial attempt at entering the games market in 2003, with a dedicated N-Gage handset but failed to take off as a mobile platform.
