Netflix and Prime Video share top spot in Irish streaming market
Netflix and Amazon Prime Video each accounted for 22% of Ireland’s subscription video-on-demand market in the second quarter of 2026, according to figures from streaming guide JustWatch.
The figures show a closely fought market at the top, with Disney+ only one percentage point behind the two leaders on 21%.
However, the strongest growth story came from Apple TV+, which reached 13%, up five percentage points compared with the second quarter of 2025.
The second-quarter data also marks the first appearance of Sky Go in JustWatch’s Irish market-share ranking.
Sky Go captured 3% of measured market share during the quarter, level with Mubi and the category covering other services.
The remaining services in the ranking included Paramount+ at 5% and Mubi at 3%.
Taken together, the figures point to a market in which the leading services still command the majority of user interest, but where smaller and mid-tier platforms are gaining ground.
JustWatch’s figures are based on user engagement with its platform rather than subscriber numbers. The company measures interactions including adding films or TV series to a watchlist, clicking through to a streaming service, filtering streaming services and marking titles as seen.
For Ireland, the latest figures cover interactions recorded between 1 January and 30 June 2026, with the second-quarter market shares compared with previous quarters and the corresponding period in 2025.
The data therefore provides an indication of consumer interest and engagement with streaming services, rather than the number of Irish households paying for each service.
Even with that caveat, the latest figures underline how the Irish streaming market is shifting. Netflix and Prime Video remain joint leaders, but their combined advantage over Disney+ and Apple TV+ is considerably narrower than it was a year ago.
For Apple, in particular, the five-point annual increase represents a significant change in position, putting Apple TV+ within eight percentage points of the market leaders.
