Telecoms software firm Aepona has selected Artix, Iona Technologies’ Extensible Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) for its operations. Artix provides crucial, standards-based SOA enablement capabilities for Aepona’s Universal Service Platform, allowing Tier 1 operators to more easily offer new services to customers independent of underlying network and application resources.
Artix is being used to expose a diverse and complex set of interfaces found throughout the multi-vendor IT environments typical of the telecommunications industry. The use of Artix in the Universal Service Platform will help Aepona’s customers simplify the deployment of new services and speed time to market.
Aepona selected Artix largely on the strength of its demonstrated capability to deliver the performance, scalability and high availability requirements of Tier 1 operators. In addition to support for the standards driving today’s telecommunications industry, such as Parlay/X, Artix demonstrated a strong capability to deliver the performance, scalability and high availability requirements of Tier 1 operators. “Artix uniquely provides scalability and qualities of service demanded by network operators as they begin to launch critical new revenue generating services from their networks,” said Aepona CTO Kieran Dalton. “Artix is a technology neutral product able to support the wide set of standards found in our customers’ IT environments, and when combined with Iona’s expertise in the telecommunications industry, Artix was the obvious choice.”
Iona Technologies CEO Peter Zotto added: “The telecommunications industry is an early adopter of SOA due to the distributed nature of telecom environments, coupled with the requirement to offer competitive new services to subscribers on a timely basis, at significantly lower costs.”
