HP to open new R&D and service centre in Galway

HP will construct a new facility at its Ballybrit site dedicated to software research and development, cloud technology and business services.

The announcement made by John Hinshaw, executive vice president, Global Technology and Operations, HP, and attended by An Taoiseach, Enda Kenny TD. The new facility will be just over 8,000 square meters and have capacity for up to 700 staff to support software R&D, cloud innovation and business services for HP worldwide. 

Construction is to begin this year, and the building will be constructed with flexibility and environmental sustainability features, said HP, and fitted out to support the needs of employees into the future.

"The construction of a new state of the art R&D building by HP is a testament to their Galway staff and operations in Ireland," said An Taoiseach. "The project will create 150 construction jobs during its development and will provide a much-needed boost for this sector.  HP has been a valued business partner in Ireland throughout the years and this new investment will see HP and Ireland remain at the forefront of software research and cloud computing technology."
