Sci-fi horror action game Gears of War 2 is on its way to becoming the most popular console game of all time as sales in its opening weekend reached the 2 million unit mark. The success of the title has also been a major boon to Microsoft’s Xox LIVE online service, with over 1.5 million users logging on for a total 15 million gameplay hours and helping set a new record for concurrent LIVE players.
Gears of War 2 was awarded an 18 cert by the BBFC for strong bloody horror and extreme violence.
