EuropeanPioneers to support 25 start-ups with €4.5m fund

Start-up accelerator consortium EuropeanPioneers is to support 25 EU SMEs over the next two years through a €4.5 million fund.

The consortium is led by Berlin-based etventure (Berlin) in collaboration with Irish educational software company ThoughtBox; the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS (Sankt Augustin); Weblify (Poland); and F-Secure (Finland). The scheme targets businesses active in the fields of smart city services, social connected TV, pervasive gaming and e-learning.

Over the course of the eight-month programme, the selected start-ups will receive equity free funding of €50,000 to €250,000, as well as access to state-of-the-art European Fiware and Ficontent platforms.

Participants will also be supported by experienced coaches in areas including concept and business model development, user testing, team building, marketing and financing.

EuropeanPioneers is one of 16 accelerators which will distribute a total of €80 million to companies on behalf of the European Union and will be promoted in Ireland and UK
by ThoughtBox.
