The event is a follow up to the group’s successful “RSS for non-techies,” which was held last October. Speakers lined up for this meeting include Fergus Burns of Nooked, Elaine Lucey of the Central Statistics Office and Rob Burke and Dave Northey, both from Microsoft Ireland. The event begins at 18.00 with registrations from 17.30. Attendance is free to members of It@cork and €20 for non-members.

The organisation has also recently announced that it will start pod-casting this year, with Microsoft as its initial sponsor. “This is something we have wanted to do for a long time,” said Tom Raftery, It@cork’s pod-casting consultant. “With Microsoft’s financial backing, we can now get this project off the ground.”

The pod-casting project will consist of a number of interviews with thought leaders in some of It@cork’s 220 member companies. According to the group, interviewees, who will all be senior managers, will talk about their businesses, including what their company does and what’s particularly interesting about the area they’re involved in. It@cork then plans to publish one interview each week, with a view to having more than 50 completed between 2006 and 2007. While Microsoft will sponsor the first five pod-casts in the series, It@cork will be looking for another company to partner with to produce subsequent pod-casts.
