The NV-GS500 and the NV-GS300 both feature a 3CCD engine (Charged-Coupled Device). The CCD plays a critical role in image quality and this 3CCD system reduces image noise by 30%, gains horizontal resolution in colours by 50% and give dynamic range to express luminous gradation by 30% to render better colour, detail and gradation. The camcorders also support a technology called Optical Image Stabiliser, which compensates for handshake that occurs when you shoot, by using gyrosensors to detect the amount and direction of handshake and the linear motor adjusts the lenses as needed to compensate.
All of the camcorders are equipped with a 30x optical zoom magnification so distant objects can be captured with greater sharpness.
Two types of editing software are also included with camcorders. SweetMovieLife is designed to help novices create their own movies while the other, MotionDV Studio 5.6 LE offers a more complete suite for enthusiasts including the ability to edit shots in wide mode so they can be enjoyed in full size on a widescreen TV.
