The Carlow-based hosting company Blacknight has struck a deal worth €4 million with BT Ireland for the provision of integrated data centre, network and infrastructure services.

The multi-year deal will see the hosting company relocate a large part of its data infrastructure to BT’s data centre environment in Citywest, Dublin, leveraging BT’s integrated telecommunications and IT services. The 17,000 square metre facility provides carrier neutral connectivity as part of BT’s wholly owned global network.

The deal will facilitate Blacknight in its rapid growth and expansion in Europe.

“This is a significant investment for Blacknight,” said Michele Neylon, CEO, Blacknight, “which will enable us to completely refresh and enhance our data infrastructure and expand our network capacity. BT Ireland’s global capability, reliability, and proven record in data security makes the company an ideal partner as we continue to provide our customers with market-leading cloud and hosting services.”

“In a complex market and an increasingly cloud-based economy,” said Peter Evans, director of wholesale and strategy, BT Ireland, “BT is uniquely positioned to bring telecommunications and IT services together in one streamlined solution. Blacknight’s multi-year commitment to BT services is a testament to our ability to deliver resilient and reliable data services and connectivity that our clients can trust.”
