Apple schedules mystery event for 10 September

Cheaper, more colourful iPhone tops list of expectations

Apple has issued invitations to a special event on 10 September at its headquarters in Cupertino, California. The enigmatic invitations with the cryptic title "This should brighten everyone’s day" show a white Apple logo overlaid on a jumble of coloured circles.

Given the timing this is likely to be the unveiling of Apple’s final quarter product range. A cheaper version of the iPhone in a series of colours (including gold) has been speculated on for some time.

Bankers for next week include final release dates for iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks and pricing and a release date for the redesigned Mac Pro.
