O2 Launches New BlackBerry Pearl

The BlackBerry Pearl comes complete with digital camera, multimedia capabilities and expandable memory, while also offering “push-based” wireless access to email, phone that includes Speaker-Independent Voice Activated Dialling, text messaging, Internet and intranet browsing, organiser, and other data applications.

The BlackBerry Pearl features a 1.3 MP camera with built-in flash and zoom, giving users Picture CallerID support, the ability to send images via email and MMS. The handset also enables users to enjoy their favourite MP3 music and MPEG4 videos and includes the ability to easily transfer files between a PC and the BlackBerry Pearl using the BlackBerry Desktop Software. Users can also use store additional multimedia and 3rd party application data on Micro-SD expansion memory, which is supported on the handset.

The stylish handset weighs approximately 89g and measures just 107 mm x 50 mm x 14.5 mm, making it one of the smallest, lightest smartphones on the market. It incorporates a large, ultra-bright, hi-res (240 x 260) colour LCD screen that provides ample workspace for viewing email, web pages, applications and other information.

The BlackBerry Pearl is incredibly easy-to-navigate with an intuitive trackball navigation system and dedicated “menu’ and ‘escape’ keys. The trackball makes vertical and lateral scrolling and selection fast and easy.

O2 offers unlimited email access for €40 a month for mobile e-mail users who want to access the company server and their corporate email account or €20 a month for those who want to send and receive emails on the move from internet hosted email accounts (Prices ex VAT). The BlackBerry Pearl will retail from €199 (inc VAT) and will be available from O2 stores from early October 2006.
