3 Ireland to create 50 new jobs
3 Ireland the mobile operator, have announced that they are augmenting their 400 strong workforce with 50 new positions. The new jobs will primarily be in the areas of finance, product development and retail sales and will be based in 3’s head office on Clarendon Row as well as in retail outlets across the country.
The network provider who has recently completed the €223 million National Broadband Scheme is dedicated to continued expansion in Ireland. Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Mr Pat Rabbitte commented that, “the ‘smartphone’ economy is vital to Ireland’s future and I am heartened that 3 is strengthening its presence here.”
According to chief executive at Three, Robert Finnegan, Three intends to continue to expand and strengthen its position in the Irish market. Finnegan says, “2011 is the year of the smartphone – 340 million people will buy one this year alone and Three will be at the forefront of the new mobile phenomenon in Ireland.” 3 Ireland have also recently launched their ‘All You Can Eat’ price plans which give customers free and unlimited internet access. 3 Ireland states that 60% of phones sold in Ireland on their network are smartphones, they expect this figure to soar to 90% by the end of the current year.
