Healthcare appointment software developer SwiftQueue Technologies has secured €550,000 in funding to expand its business in Ireland and the UK.
The round consists of a €300,000 investment by Kernel Capital through the Bank of Ireland Seed and Early Stage Equity Fund with the remainder provided by Enterprise Ireland.
SwiftQueue’s platform reduces waiting times for hostpitals and clinics by letting patients book or cancel their appointments online. The system is being used across the UK National Health Service (NHS) and Health Service Executive (HSE). The scalable SaaS platform is expected to deliver over 1 million online appointments this year for clients including Royal Free London NHS Trust; George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust, St. James’ Hospital and The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.
The Enterprise Ireland-supported company currently employs 10 people with plans to take on additional staff over the next 12 months.
“Increasing efforts to address the challenges in today’s Healthcare systems have seen a greater emphasis on the use of technology to deliver integrated and efficient solutions that improve patient engagement,” said Brendan Casey, CEO, SwiftQueue. “This investment from Kernel Capital and Enterprise Ireland will enable SwiftQueue to expedite our growth plans and ensure our team deliver the solutions to meet and exceed these expectations.”
Orla Rimmington, partner, Kernel Capital, said: “As health ministers globally drive to cut patient waiting times; this efficiency is being enabled through the implementation of innovative technologies such as SwiftQueue. Kernel Capital is delighted to invest in this dynamic Irish company.”
