Workday, Gate Theatre partner on STEAM initiative
Workday and Dublin’s Gate Theatre have begaun a partnership to embed the Arts in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths education.
The partnership will foster innovation through the arts among pupils from seven Deis schools in Dublin participating in the Try Five’ STEAM programme. It will include student access to dramatic performances, theatre and behind the scenes tours and workshops with actors, producers, playwrights and directors.
“Creativity is often an overlooked part of innovation and can help foster problem solving skills. By partnering with The Gate Theatre, Workday hopes to inspire new thinking by school children and help get them ready for future tech careers, especially in AI where a multi-disciplinary approach is key,” said Graham Abell, site Lead and VP engineering, Workday.
This partnership will also increase community access to the arts by providing approximately 100 members of the local community in Dublin 1 and Dublin 7 with ‘everyone belongs here’ access tickets for Gate Theatre events, as part of the Gate’s Gateways Previews initiative.
