Motorola Defy +
Pitched as a ‘life-proof’ smartphone, Motorola’s Defy + is resistant to water, dust and scratches. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread off a 1GHz processor and has a 5MP camera. The 3.7" screen is protected by Gorilla Glass and it comes with 2Gb internal memory (expandable to 32Gb by microSD).
The ‘swype’ function makes navigating the keys a little easier by gliding your finger across the touch screen instead of pressing for each individual character. As a clincher, the Defy + comes with native Flash support.
Price: €249 prepay or as a free upgrade on bill pay from O2

Nikon D4
Nikon’s new flagship DSLR camera, the D4, comes with a 16.2MP FX-format CMOS sensor and an ISO of 12,800. Settings can be tracked on a 3.2" wide viewing angle LCD screen and connectivity comes courtesy of a USB 2.0 and video out ports.
It’s in video recording that the D4 really comes into its own, capable of shooting 1920×1080 full HD footage at 30fps, and it has an integrated microphone.
High Dynamic Range (HDR) functionality comes as standard.
Price: €5,930 (SRP)

Toshiba Camileo Z100
The Camileo Z100 is Toshiba’s first entry in the home 3D camcorder market. On top of 3D capture, in 2D mode the Z100 can shoot footage in full 1920×1080 HD, take still images up to 16MP and has functions like smile detection and face tracking more associated with digital compact cameras.
Connectivity comes via mini-HDMI and mini-USB and the whole package is controlled by a 2.8" touch screen.
