Microsoft has confirmed it will be releasing four security bulletins on next week’s Patch Tuesday (13 July), addressing five vulnerabilities across its Windows and Office products.
The two bulletins for Windows are split, with one defined as “critical” and the other as “important.” However, both Office vulnerabilities are classified as critical.
Jerry Bryant, group manager at the Microsoft Security Response Centre, warned on his blog that two security advisories – 2028859: Vulnerability in Canonical Display Driver Could Allow Remote Code Execution and 2219475: Vulnerability in Windows Help and Support Centre Could Allow Remote Code Execution – would also be closed this month.
The main push is still to remind people that July “marks the end of Microsoft support for the Windows 2000 and Windows XP SP2 platforms.”
Bryant used his blog to urge people into upgrading their operating systems to ensure they “keep receiving necessary security updates.”
