As hybrid working becomes the new normal, workforces are no longer constrained to one location.
“Data now moves more freely from endpoint devices and throughout the Internet,” says Aoife Walsh, account manager at Servaplex. So how do companies identify, track, and secure their endpoints?
Flipdish is a hospitality tech company and tech ‘unicorn’ that provides digital ordering solutions for quick service restaurants (QSRs) and cafes. Its technology underpins custom mobile apps, websites, QR-code ordering, and self-order kiosks.
The Endpoint Central Cloud journey
When Leon Weavers, head of IT, joined Flipdish, he said his main priority was to discover and secure Flipdish’ s endpoints. “We are a remote first company and all of our laptops and assets were not tracked, hence the first objective was to track them,” he said.
Weavers added that the main challenge for Flipdish was they did not know what endpoints they had. “We did not know who had access to what, and we didn’t know how secure that access was, that was a big concern,” he said.
“For example, if somebody was using a laptop that had never undergone a windows update, didn’t have a firewall enabled, or doesn’t have the encryption turned on; that was our biggest concern as to how do we discover and secure our endpoints.”
Flipdish needed a solution to manage their remote endpoints to allow them to quickly deploy software and provide patch management to Windows and Mac machines. That’s where Servaplex and ManageEngine came in to assist Flipdish.
Weavers met with account manager Aoife Walsh, and within a month he had trialled and purchased Endpoint Central Cloud from Servaplex, which has grown bigger since then.
Literally on day one I was able to deploy the management endpoint client and start managing machines within minutes. The others were hugely complicated platforms that required dedicated engineers to build deployment scripts and configure and we dint have the time or results to implement any of those solutions,” said Weavers.
It has made a positive impact on Flipdish’ s everyday work as they can now push updates and manage devices remotely without even needing to be in front of the machine – which is massive for them as they all work remotely.
“I chose Endpoint Central Cloud as the solution was cloud based and was easy to use without the need for heavy configuration or training,” said Weavers.
Founded in 2003, Servaplex is an independent IT software supplier with clients in a wide range of industries including government, education, financial services, construction and manufacturing.
