Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Barry Andrews officiated the launch of a new child safety Internet initiative in Dublin on Friday, June 18. Reassureme.com, is a website designed to help parents protect their children from a number of online risks. Its pages are constantly updated with useful tips on how to avoid hazards such as a cyber-bullying, inappropriate content and Internet grooming.

In addition, the site offers a downloadable service that will enable parents to block unsafe websites, set up safe Internet zones and set time controls the service can also block peer-to-peer (P2P) downloads. ReassureMe Home Edition can be installed in up to three computers, giving parents the means to monitor Web behaviour, see which websites their children are visiting and what they’re able to view.
